Austin Mini 'Jet Black' 1988 (E)
The 'Jet Black' is a limited edition with only 1000 made for the UK and marks the end of the Mini production under the Austin name before the Rover rebrand take over, which makes this car quite a rarity 21 years after its only production year.
This car belongs to my girlfriend and she has owned and loved the car for the last 13 years, but reluctantly, very reluctantly, she wants to sell it now to make way for a Mini Cooper. This car has been extremely reliable and has only failed to start due to the condenser, which was replaced for a new one.
I would consider this car to be in very good condition body/engine & interior wise except for a couple of areas of rust starting to show. It has recently failed its MOT in August 2009 (but not the previous year) for a few typical subframe rust issues, and a couple other minor faults. I'm sure is not too difficult and time consuming to put right, in competent hands. I can provide details of the failure notice if requested.
By design the 'Jet Black' has decals on both rear quarter panels and boot lid with the '
' logo and a red stripe down both sides and across the back of the vehicle. This car has had a respray some years ago and the decals were not replaced, however, this car is genuine and the decals are easily/cheaply obtained.
If I had the time and space to do the repairs myself I would have, so, this makes a great opportunity for someone else to restore one of the rarer Mini's, branded by Austin, back to it's former glory.
